Nonintrusive Appliance Load Monitoring is a modern technique that has several applications for both consumers and electrical distribution companies. These techniques allow bill discrimination and detection of energy losses. It also provides valuable information for energy programs, and creates a better characterization of the loads.
This dissertation presents a non invasive system based on the unique electrical events supplied by each equipment in a house. The methodology developed uses advanced signal processing analysis to build an innovative processing flow that permits any user to perform a load disaggregation algorithm in order to identify and classify any equipment in the house using only its electrical signature.
