With the growing of the power systems, i.e., the introduction of new energy sources, and the interconnection of the power systems, the short circuit levels increase. Fault current limiters (FCL) are the technical solution of this problem. Among different types of FCL's, one of the most promissing is the resistive superconductor FCL.
This work has the objective to deduce analytically and numerically the shapes of current density, magnetic field and electric field (and consequently the loss) of a resistive superconductor limiter transporting a sinusoidal current. The influence of the variation of the system temperature in the electromagnetic behavior of the superconductor was analyzed.
