In industrial drives, the long feeders between inverters and motors can produce undesirable over-voltages in the motor's terminals. Such over-voltages can be reduced through some methods: impedance match, filter at inverter output, multi-level inverters, harmonic analysis, tuned filters or low-pass filters. This work seeks to analyze these methodologies, presenting advantages and disadvantages, as well as to discuss specific applications for each type of solution.
Models for the system drive, including converter, feeder and motor, were implemented in the ATPIEMTP (Alternative Transient Program - Electric Magnetic Transient Program). The effectiveness of each method was tested through simulations, and some of the schemes were actually implemented in a laboratory set up, to validate the simulation.
